evenings in the garden with tracy reese

Working in retail has taken me to a new level of loving clothing. Since I have so many options before me, I try to be very selective about what I welcome into my wardrobe. It has to be as wearable as it is remarkable. This Tracy Reese Petite Exclusive dress for Anthropologie is one such item, equal parts romantic and modern.

This piece is from a collection that she designed exclusively for the Petite Anthro customer, tailored to flatter her femininity in an artful way. The silhouette feels tailored for my frame (I happen to prefer petite sizes in general) and I can wear it casually just as easily as I can wear it formally.

I’m going to have to limit the number of times I wear it, to preserve its beautiful condition. Every time I wear it, I feel like a garden goddess.

Anything that makes you feel like a goddess, confident enough to pose for photos in the middle of your own neighborhood, is well worth having.

scarlett hill: wildfire

One of the many things that make my life worthwhile is the chance to connect with talented creative individuals who make the world look, sound, and feel more beautiful. Be it through canvas or song, creative expression is at the core of our humanity. So when I’m able to share my dedication and love for it with another person, there is an instant bond and understanding of spirit. This is what happened with me and Scarlett Hill.

It’s about forging genuine connections and putting out more good into the world. Perhaps that sounds lofty for people like us – just starting out and trying to make a mark wherever we can – but it’s an aspiration I think we all could be more mindful of in the things we do. I’m honored that they gave me the opportunity to do this photo shoot for their album, Wildfire, coming out August 1st.scarlett-hill-album-15ascarlett-hill-album-7ascarlett-hill-album-36a

goodnight, winter

goodnight-winter-2a

Cocoon dresses can be intimidating. Since it’s basically the shape of a sack, it’s hard to envision how this silhouette can be flattering. But my motto is, just try it on. Seriously, it’s as simple as that. I plan on living in this dress all spring (at farmer’s markets and festivals) and summer (poolside).

all day every day plaid

So I literally wore this plaid button-down dress four times last week. I’m dead serious, just ask any of my co-workers! First day as a dress with a belt (as you saw), second day unbuttoned over jeans and a tee shirt, third day unbuttoned and tied up in a knot over a black pencil dress, and fourth day below. I think it’s safe to say this was a good buy…

So. This dress is my new favorite obsession. I’m so glad plaid is back and may it never ever go out of style. I’ve already worn this dress twice since I bought it (… like on Monday?) and I’m still finding new awesome outfits to make out of it. The plaid is relaxed, the silhouette is androgynous and I’ll wear this all year round. Total win all around.

comfort first

jan-2015-41a

I can’t help it. Winter makes me want to hide in a baggy long sweater! My obsessions turn towards tried and true accessories – beanies, fingerless gloves, booties. I love breaking all of these out of my drawers and super thankful that they’re still in style. What’s your favorite cold weather accessory?
