linen on linen

I’m pretty excited it’s that time of year again… time for linen pants! I think I love them so much because they can look as edgy or classic as you want them to. It’s all in the styling.

Linen wide leg pants are a more recent obsession; it’s only in the last few years that I felt like I could pull them off and it’s probably because I finally found some that were flattering for my height (I’m 5’4″). All the wide leg pants I own (and flares) are petite sizes and I think that’s been the game changer. I do still have to wear a small heel but it’s the actual pant leg, not the length, that has become a better fit.

These new ones are particularly wide because of the slit on the sides, but they still look proportionately correct. They are slightly higher waisted but that means I can either wear them with a shorter top or tuck my top in for added definition. I create a linen on linen look here with this linen tank top but I’ve also worn these pants with just a tshirt tucked in to show off the rope belt detail.

just a touch of trend

I’m going to be real with you guys. There’s just not enough time to take a picture with a nice camera and edit it and all that jazz. But, I had to share this outfit because I genuinely love it and what’s more – is that I’m surprised I love it.

I don’t know if I’ve ever had a cargo pant and I wouldn’t call myself a lace-up lover but somehow, both of these work perfectly together. All from Anthro, as per usual. I think the key here is all about fit. There’s no point in indulging in trends unless it fits you to a tee. Also it helps that this look is all neutral colors aka foolproof!

treat yourself

Every now and then, you just gotta treat yourself. Some days, it will be with a doughnut and a vanilla latte. Other days, it’s a great new outfit to make you feel shiny and new. I made the decision to buy this top and pencil skirt because they of how multi-functional and bold they both are; equal parts feminine and strong, contemporary and classic. [ sidenote: this post has made me realize I tend to like pictures of me facing to the left! ]

I’m a huge fan of the crop top trend, but it can be next to impossible to dress it up or take it into the workplace. As I slipped this one over my head, it took me less than a heartbeat to decide that I really couldn’t live without adding it to my wardrobe. It’s so much better than your average shell; the silhouette is structured yet unexpected and keeps you looking fashion-forward, graceful, and confident.

Describe your style in 5 words or less.

Comfort chic / understated snatched.

Who and what inspires your style?

Hmmm…that’s kind of tough. There are people who I admire with style I do not necessarily want to emulate. I’m confident enough in my own style to appreciate when I see a trendsetter.

seeing in color

The heat is on and so it’s time for the colors to come out! Goodbye winter neutral cozies and hello to bright colors and bare skin. I recently purchased this tank top and have been trying to think outside of the box in terms of outfitting it. My natural impulse is to just pair with shorts or jeans for a casual Saturday, but I’ve found that if you just experiment, you’ll discover new ways to wear your casual tanks.

This outfit (minus the hat) won me a best-dressed contest at work and though it’s taken me quite a long time to put it on again, I’m still in love. I’m obsessed with jumpsuits/rompers and I bought this one way out of season last fall (out of season = great deal). People tend to think jumpsuits are difficult to wear, but I think it’s quite the opposite.
