a love story fall

feeling-fall-2015-10a

If you haven’t heard then I’m sure you’ve at least seen that the 70s are back. The silhouettes, the patterns, and the colors of decades past is truly taking over stores for the fall season. Basically, we all now want to look like Ali McGraw (my mom would say she was way ahead of her time).

It’s all about that hint of menswear – in structure or pattern.. or both. This color blocked trench seduced me in about 10 seconds flat. I’m thinking that I’ll love it til I’m in my 70s!

sunday in the park at oakland cemetery

If you aren’t familiar with Atlanta landmarks, you might think that spending the day in a local cemetery sounds strange or morbid. But at Oakland Cemetery in Grant Park, you’ll find that it can actually be quite the opposite. This year’s Sunday In The Park event was divine perfection; the sun was shining and the garden cemetery was full of growth, vibrancy, life.

Out of the multitude of festivals and fall events, this is definitely one of my favorites. It’s a “Victorian street festival”, where you’ll find vintage cars, steampunk costume characters, food trucks, and more. The mausoleums and monuments are also open to the public, inviting visitors to explore a little bit of the history of those laid to rest there. The air is filled with joy and lightness.

falling all over again

The weather can’t seem to make up its mind (at least in Atlanta). One day is the beginning of fall, the next feels like the middle of harsh winter. While it can feel schizophrenic and difficult to dress for, I am trying to treat all those almost-warm days like the little precious jewels they are. Pretty soon, I’ll be so cold that I won’t want to wear anything but a parka! Til then, I’ve got some new basic obsessions in my wardrobe. See below!

blue suede shoes

I’ve got plenty of neutral colored boots and shoes for winter (or any season), but what I really want is a great pair of blue suede shoes. I have one pair of blue suede flats that I’ve worn into the ground yet still every time I wear them I receive a compliment. It’s not the compliments I seek – it’s the wonderful punctuation mark it adds to any outfit, making me feel all the more pulled together. In a season of cozy knits and leggings, anything that will add easy elegance is definitely much needed.

sweater weather

I recently realized that every outfit post I’ve done on this blog has been in a dress or skirt, probably due to the summer heat! But now there’s a chill in the air and I’m more excited than ever to wear scarves, tights, leggings, and boots. My most recent purchase is this amazingly soft infinity scarf from Anthro. Here’s my first shot at an outfit. Can you believe me, in leather shorts?
