As if the beautiful vistas weren’t enough, Chattanooga holds all those delightful little wonders typically entwined with old Southern culture. Like your random tchotchke shop on the side of the road. The “quilts, fudge, moccasins” sign was all we needed to hit the brakes!

And in a dazed search for anything to eat, we happily stumbled upon Shuford’s (conveniently perched right next to the Subway we were originally seeking). There’s nothing quite like a hole-in-the-wall bbq joint. It was complete with everything you could want out of southern barbecue shack – a walk-up counter, elderly sweetness, football team love, and a batch of thick-cut finger-lickin’ ribs. My heartbeat’s slowing down just thinking about it.

  1. So cool you live in Atlanta too! Ever since I moved here, I have wanted to go to Chattanooga. I’ve heard great things and this post makes me want to go that much more! Great photos 🙂
